Granite Countertops in Macomb County, MI
Granite is quarried natural stone. No two slabs match, it shrugs off heat, and a sealed granite countertop handles years of family cooking.
What Are Granite Countertops?
Granite forms deep in the earth from cooled magma, then gets cut into slabs and polished. That process gives every slab its own mix of crystals, flecks and movement. The slab you choose is the slab that ends up in your kitchen, so we encourage homeowners to look at full slabs, not just a small sample.
Because it is natural rock, granite is hard, resists scratches from everyday use, and stands up to hot pans better than most surfaces. It is porous to a degree, so it gets sealed at install and resealed over time to keep spills from soaking in.
Why Homeowners Choose Granite
- One-of-a-kind patterns from salt-and-pepper speckle to bold movement
- Handles heat from pots and pans
- Hard surface that resists everyday scratches
- Long track record in kitchens, islands and bar tops
- Wide color range from white and gray to black and gold
Best for: Busy kitchens, islands, bar tops and anyone who wants a countertop nobody else has.
Caring for Granite Countertops
- Wipe up with mild soap and warm water
- Avoid bleach and abrasive cleaners
- Reseal on the schedule we give you for your specific stone
- Use a cutting board to protect your knives more than the stone
Edges, Sinks and Cutouts
Common edge profiles include eased, beveled, bullnose and ogee. We cut undermount, top-mount and apron-front sink openings, faucet holes and cooktop cutouts to your fixtures, and we plan seams with you during the measure.
What Affects the Price of Granite Countertops
Every job is priced after we measure, because no two kitchens are the same. These are the things that move the number:
- Total square footage and number of pieces
- The slab you choose (some colors cost more than others)
- Edge profile
- Sink, faucet and cooktop cutouts
- Tear-out and haul-away of old countertops
- Backsplash pieces and full-height backsplash
You get one written price before we cut anything.

Questions
Granite Countertop FAQs
Does granite need to be sealed?
Yes. We seal it at install, and depending on the stone it should be resealed every so often. We tell you the right schedule for the slab you pick.
Can I put a hot pan on granite?
Granite handles heat better than most countertops. A trivet is still a good habit, mostly to protect the finish around seams and edges.
Can I see the actual slab?
Yes, and we recommend it. Because granite is natural, the full slab tells you far more than a small sample.
Will there be seams?
Most kitchens need at least one seam. We plan seam placement during the measure and show you where they will go before we cut.
